NFINIT in the Community

Building Stronger Communities

We consider it a privilege, not an obligation, to help improve the communities that we’re part of. Whether it’s a geographic or professional community, contributing is in our corporate DNA.

Opening Tech Career Pathways to Underserved Youth

In spring of 2021, NFINIT forged a unique partnership with Sweetwater Union High School District in south San Diego. The partnership creates internships for students enrolled in or recently graduated from the high school computer sciences program. With demand for tech workers growing, programs such as this help to build a stronger, more diverse, highly skilled workforce.

Said Phil Kenney, NFINIT CEO, “I can’t think of a better way to give back than by providing opportunities for Sweetwater students to boost their STEM education in a practical setting, learning skills that will empower themselves and their communities for years to come.”

“When it comes to the computing and tech fields, far too few women and people of color are represented, and we’re working to change that,” added Art Lopez, the Sweetwater teacher leading the computer science program.

Denis Savage, VP Operations for NFINIT, spends time with two Sweetwater interns in the San Diego Network Operations Center (NOC). Denis is spearheading the internship program with Art Lopez, the teacher who oversees Sweetwater’s computer science program.

Even with about half of the San Diego team working remotely, NFINIT employees stuffed the donation boxes several times over. Contributions exceeded expectations for a food, toy, and clothing drive that benefitted families in Tijuana.

Kevin James, Director of NOC Operations, and his fiancé, Jessica Aguilar, coordinated the Christmas drive.
